Toxic Effects of Heavy Metals on Bone Tissue

Abstract: Ağır metaller doğada yaygın olarak bulunur. Çevresel ve mesleki nedenlerle ağır metallere maruz kalındığı zaman çeşitli sistemlerde toksik etkiler ortaya çıkabilir. Ağır metallere akut ve kronik maruziyette farklı klinik bulgular ortaya çıkar. Birçok ağır metalin primer doku organı kemiktir ve kronik maruziyette kemik dokuda toksik etkiler oluşturur. Bu makalede maruziyetine sık rastlanan ağır metallerin kemik üzerine toksik etkilerinin gözden geçirilmesi amaçlandı. (

“…Of concern, heavy metals (e.g., cadmium (Cd) and lead (Pb)) were cumulative bone-toxicants with the contribution to musculoskeletal disease [9]. Compelling toxicological evidence showed that heavy metals were linked to two major pathological changes of OA, including joint damage and inflammation [10,11]. For example, cadmium chloride treatment caused cartilage loss and inflammation in a 3D culture model of human chondrocytes [12].…”
