Several new technologies, for example, the Internet of Things (IoTs) continue to surface in the frontage of ubiquitous and pervasive computing. Internet of things is slowly being embraced in different domains to support control and monitoring systems. The advent of microprocessors embedded with communication facilities has enabled the possibility of integrating ICTs within people and their environments. With the power utilities industry grappling with serious issues like load management which has a potential of damaging their equipment, first movers are turning to advanced technologies such as the IoTs to achieve demandside management. The purpose of this study was to conduct a theoretical and empirical review on the approaches used by Power utilities to manage load in order to determine how IoTs can be used particularly by Zimbabwe's Power utility to solve the supply-demand problem. Currently, the load management approaches used by the Power utility in Zimbabwe are load shifting and load shedding. A conceptual model was developed using C++ guided by the algorithm for load management. The model development was motivated by the research gap establish from the literature review and the problem faced by the Power utility in Zimbabwe in balancing demand and supply during peak periods. The idea is modelled around continuous monitoring of the feeder or substation, activating the automatic control and carrying out load allocation procedure based on priority settings, connection, and re-connection timings. The proposed model is also based on the dependence of demand and consumer priority perception. The model will ensure that electricity is available for basic and essential use in times of increased demand. It requires that load demand is constantly monitored to trigger automatic control and appliances should connect to the electric power grid using smart plugs.

Hive computing has gone by many names and has been used for various applications from simple business to complex scientific problems, over the years. In the modern world, Hive Computing and Virtualization have been put in use to accomplish various tasks [1]. The benefit of using the Virtualization technique is that it allows creation of a virtual version like a virtual hardware platform, operating system (OS), storage device, or network resources which is quite compatible with hive computing. Hive computing involves task split-up that can be resolved by a loose federation of resources. The applications deployed under this architecture provide content sharing which enable users to serve content off their personal hard-drives and share files with others, thus representing a growing trend of decentralized content and control. In Botswana, progress in education is taken to be essential for sustainable development, environmental protection, improvement in maternal and child health and participation in democratic social and political processes. Education is also currently becoming the most important contributor to national economic growth of the Nation[2]. The Government is striving by all means to make quality education available to all in the country. This paper discusses the best practices of volunteer hive computing and virtualization techniques that can be applied not only to enhance edification approaches but also to achieve financial viability with other benefits. Furthermore the recommendations will certainly aid the relevant stakeholders to deploy this in the years to come.

Distributed systems, such as grids, are composed of geographically distributed computing elements that belong to multiple administrative domains and are controlled by multiple entities. It is unlikely that testers are able to acquire repeatedly the same resources, for the same amount of time, and under the same network conditions, which are paramount requirements for enabling reproducible and controlled tests in software under development. An alternative to experiments in real testbeds is the use of emulation tools, which allow the software to run in an environment that behaves like a distributed system. Although advances in virtualization technology allowed the development of efficient emulators, few efforts were put in making operation of such emulators easier. This paper presents the design and the development of the Automated Emulation Framework that allows automatic mapping of virtual machines to hosts, virtual machine deployment, network configuration, and proactive management and reconfiguration of the virtual infrastructure.
