The Internet of Things (IoT) generates new business opportunities by connecting physical objects with a multitude of sensors. IoT research mainly focused on technology and business models are relatively unexplored, although developing IoT business models is important for successful IoT service. The aim of this research is to prototyping business model for IoT development HydroM8 Self-Watering Plant. This research has a generic design thinking framework and business model for IoT through literature analysis and interviews. To create the developing of the HydroM8 Self-Watering Plant, the researcher undertakes case studies of a group of students who are in the process of finding problems, creating ideas, design product, to testing the HydroM8 Self-Watering Plant product using IoT that combines internet technology and smartphones. In addition, a group of students also made a Business Model which will later be used as planning, especially in the Competitive Advantages, Key Resources, Key Partners, Cost Structure to added value and sell products that will later be marketed to consumers. This research acts as a starting point for designing or developing business models for IoT services. The findings suggest that the HydroM8 Self-Watering Plant has a considerable chance of success rate for potential users, especially those who like to water plants but do not have enough time. The HydroM8 Self-Watering Plant can be a tool for caring (watering plants automatically) and this tool can provide information to users when their plants have been watered. This HydroM8 Self-Watering Plant has the potential to significantly impact for the community of agriculture sector and promote sustainable water use efficiency.

Traditionally, data has been presented in textual format and the interaction with the user confined to the keyboard or touch screen to input data and the screen to deliver information. However, with the advent of a data-driven society, an opportunity for more natural and efficient ways of presenting data and interacting with it has emerged. Although the area of Human-Computer Interaction has existed for a long time, its focus has always been on the interaction with an artefact (the computer). Today instead, we face the challenge of interacting with an intangible object: data. As a result, a key requirement emerges: How do we make legible the enormous amounts of data produced per day to ordinary people? Designers, able to devise natural and smooth interaction experiences, should play a relevant role in this new scenario. However, they might lack the basic technical knowledge required to understand the possibilities of these new systems. In this paper we present a brief how-to manual for an undergraduate course on data materialisation: the process of transforming an intangible object (data) in an artefact that can be interacted with in a physical way.

Numerous efforts have been made to find appropriate didactic tools for different educational levels and, thus, improve the teaching-learning process at each level. In this work, we presented the development of a universal testing machine (UTM), aiming to contribute to the learning process of students at the Laboratório de Instrumentação e Engenharia Biomédica of UNESP-Ilha Solteira Campus, through the design and implementation, firstly of the electromechanical system, and then the modular systems of data acquisition, communication, processing and interfacing data. The UTM implemented has shown similar features to those of the commercial equipment. Likewise, the system implemented by modules allows the continuous improvement of the equipment, working as a didactic platform mainly for undergraduate students in phases of scientific initiation or completion of course work, contributing not only to the learning process but also to the development of national technology. Resumo: Inúmeros esforços têm sido realizados visando encontrar ferramentas didáticas apropriadas para os diferentes níveis educativos e assim melhorar o processo ensino-aprendizagem em cada nível. Neste trabalhoé apresentado o desenvolvimento de uma máquina universal de ensaios (MUE), que contribuía também ao aprendizado de alunos do Laboratório de Instrumentação e Engenharia Biomédica da UNESP-Câmpus Ilha Solteira, através da projeção e implementação, inicialmente do sistema eletromecânico, e depois dos sistemas modulares de aquisição, comunicação, processamento e interfaceamento de dados. A MUE implementada mostrou ter características similaresàs de equipamentos comerciais. O sistema modular implementado permite o aprimoramento contínuo do equipamento, servindo como plataforma didática principalmente para alunos de graduação em fases de iniciação cientifica ou trabalhos de conclusão de curso, contribuindo não só ao processo de aprendizado como também ao desenvolvimento de tecnologia nacional.
