Towards deconstructing the simplest seesaw mechanism

Sanjoy Mandal,
O. G. Miranda,
G. Sanchez Garcia
et al.

Abstract: The triplet or type-II seesaw mechanism is the simplest way to endow neutrinos with mass in the Standard Model (SM). Here we review its associated theory and phenomenology, including restrictions from S, T , U parameters, neutrino experiments, charged lepton flavour violation as well as collider searches. We also examine restrictions coming from requiring consistency of electroweak symmetry breaking, i.e. perturbative unitarity and stability of the vacuum. Finally, we discuss novel effects associated to the sc… Show more

“…Previous studies on this aspect have been investigated in numerous works including, for example, Refs. [21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29]. The test of the type II seesaw leptogenesis from lepton flavor violation can be also found in [30].…”

“…The decay modes of triplet Higgs with different v ∆ −∆m parameters have been thoroughly discussed in Refs. [28,29]. We consider ∆m < O(1)GeV and v ∆ < 10 −4 GeV,thus the doublycharged Higgs H ±± mostly decays to leptonic final states.…”

“…The most important relevant electroweak precision constraints(EWPC) are the oblique, aka Peskin−Takeuchi [78] S, T, U parameters [79][80][81], which represent the contribution of BSM physics to the SM gauge sector. Since the triplet scalar carries no hypercharge, its contribution to S parameter is absent.…”

“…We have kept terms of v 2 ∆ /v 2 which have been neglected in previous studies [34,126]. The overall triplet contributions to the oblique parameters should contain the tree-level one in Eq.…”
