Towards Bim-Gis Integration for Road Intelligent Management System

Jorge Jerez Cepa,
Rubén Muñoz Pavón,
Marcos García Alberti
et al.

Abstract: Roads and highways are often managed by using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). However, these systems lack the level of detail that Building Information Modelling (BIM) can bring to an infrastructure management system. BMGIS integration allows the management of information from both infrastructure and environmental points of view. This provides an overview of the infrastructure, facilitating decision-making process throughout its complete life cycle. This article shows a semi-automated process to generate… Show more

“…Other interesting applications of BIM-GIS integration systems refer to the management of infrastructure such as highways [54], airports [55], sewage systems [56], hydroelectric projects [57], or railways [58]. By way of example, the work of Cepa et al [59] is centered on the development of a multi-scale BIM-GIS model, specifically intended to support the facility management (FM) of linear infrastructures (e.g., roads, highways, etc.) by making use of specific commercial tools to transfer IFC BIM models to a GIS platform.…”
