Towards an Infrastructure Description Language for Modeling Computing Infrastructures

Abstract: Abstract-This paper describes the Infrastructure and Network Description Language (INDL). The aim of INDL is to provide technology independent descriptions of computing infrastructures. These descriptions include the physical resources and the network infrastructure that connects these resources. The description language also provides the necessary vocabulary to describe virtualization of resources and the services offered by these resources. Furthermore, the language can be easily extended to describe federat… Show more

“…We investigated ten network description languages. They are YANG (Bjorklun, M., 2010), NDL (Grosso, P., et al, 2007), NML (Ham, J.J. van der, et al, 2013), INDL (Ghijsen, M., et al, 2012), Table 2. From the survey of these existing languages, it is apparent that CIM is the best choice for honeynet description.…”

“…Finally, network description languages are mainly network-oriented [43]; therefore, they do not provide semantics and mechanism for describing computing architectures. This has been, recently, changed [91] with the proposal of INDL, which provides support for basic computing infrastructure.…”

“…We assume that Cloud providers has their own ontologies to describe their resources and attribute profiles, e.g. Infrastructure and Network Description Language (INDL) [5] for virtual infrastructures provisioning. When Cloud clients consume Cloud resources from a Cloud provider P , they are provided the provider's ontology, say O P .…”
