Semantic and Cloud Computing technologies have become vital elements for developing and deploying solutions across diverse fields in computing. While they are independent of each other, they can be integrated in diverse ways for developing solutions and this has been significantly explored in recent times. With the migration of web-based data and applications to cloud platforms and the evolution of the web itself from a social, web 2.0 to a semantic, web 3.0 comes the convergence of both technologies. While several concepts and implementations have been provided regarding interactions between the two technologies from existing research, without an explicit classification of the modes of interaction, it can be quite challenging to articulate the interaction modes, hence building upon them can be a very daunting task. Hence, this research identifies and describes the modes of interaction between them. Furthermore, a "cloud-driven" interaction mode which focuses on fully maximising cloud computing characteristics and benefits for driving the semantic web is described; providing an approach for evolving the semantic web and delivering automated semantic annotation on a large-scale to web applications.

Legal technology is currently receiving a lot of attention from various angles. In this contribution we describe the main technical components of a system that is currently under development in the European innovation project Lynx, which includes partners from industry and research. The key contribution of this paper is a workflow manager that enables the flexible orchestration of workflows based on a portfolio of Natural Language Processing and Content Curation services as well as a Multilingual Legal Knowledge Graph that contains semantic information and meaningful references to legal documents. We also describe different use cases with which we experiment and develop prototypical solutions.

We present a platform that enables the semantic analysis, enrichment, visualisation and presentation of a document collection in a way that enables human users to intuitively interact and explore the collection, in short, a curation platform or workbench. The data set used is the result of a research project, carried out by scholars from South Korea, in which official German government documents on the German re-unification were collected, intellectually curated, analysed, interpreted and published in multiple volumes. The documents we worked with are mostly in German, a small subset, mostly summaries, is in Korean. This paper describes the original research project that generated the data set and focuses upon a description of the platform and Natural Language Processing (NLP) pipeline adapted and extended for this project (e. g., OCR was added). Our key objective is to develop an interactive curation workbench that enables users to interact with the data set in several different ways that go beyond the current version of the published document collection as a set of PDF documents that are available online. The paper concludes with suggestions regarding the improvement of the platform and future work.
