Towards a common and semantic representation of e-portfolios

Abstract: Purpose Since the early 1980s, a paradigm shift, caused by the work undertaken in the field of cognitive psychology, has occurred. This shift is known as the move from teacher-centered instruction to learner-centered or learning-centered instruction, and emphasizes the importance of building new knowledge on previous ones, interacting with peers, making meaningful and reflective learning and being engaged in his own path to foster learning. This new vision of teaching has created a need for new learning and as… Show more

“…Increased trust and credibility in recruiting outcomes result from recruiters and candidates expressing faith in the validity and integrity of candidate data recorded on the Blockchain. Furthermore, ADRSoB's transparency promotes responsibility and adherence to data protection laws (Rezgui et al, 2018). The examination of ADRSoB yielded significant findings that underscored its efficacy in augmenting recruitment procedures concerning efficiency, candidate selection quality, bias mitigation, transparency, and user satisfaction.…”

“…There are specifications such as IMS ePortfolio and JISC Leap2A that can be used for developing new e-portfolio systems solving interoperability problems. Nevertheless, they are based on the XML language, in which the semantic of the elements is comprehensible by humans but not by machines (Rezgui, Mhiri, & Ghédira, 2018).…”

“…Nguyen and Ikeda (2014) propose an ontological model that is used to design and implement an ePortfolio system in order to promote self-regulated learning. Rezgui et al (2018) develop an ontology to represent different types of e-portfolios and their resources, based on standards and official specifications like IMS ePortfolio and JISC Leap2A. Although these models present a great advance in the use of semantic tools, they do not use the concept of learning paths, a feature that further enriches personalization.…”
