Toward Optical Ceramics Based on Yb3+ Rare Earth Ion-Doped Mixed Molybdato-Tungstates: Part II - Spectroscopic Characterization

Abstract: Investigations of spectroscopic properties were performed for Yb3+-doped solid solutions of chemical formulas based on mixed La2MoWO9 molybdato-tungstate powders that crystallize in the cubic system with the space group P213 (No. 198) and from which it was also possible to prepare the first translucent optical ceramics. Samples activated by the Yb3+ ion in a wide concentration range were synthesized by three various techniques: high-temperature solid-state reaction, the Pechini method, and the combustion metho… Show more

“…Moreover, the Yb 3+ -La 2 MoWO 9 at room temperature demonstrated an intense luminescence by forming a novel cubic structure. The self-quenching and the creation of vacancies into the structures led to this enhanced luminescence as demonstrated in Figure …”

“…The self-quenching and the creation of vacancies into the structures led to this enhanced luminescence as demonstrated in Figure 12. 121 The Er 3+ ion was applied as a dopant in photoactive glassceramics. 16 The higher chemical attraction between Er 3+ and a glass structure and an improved thermal stability led to multiphase crystallizations.…”

“…Pechini synthesis was built on principles of sol-gel chemistry and assumed synthesis of metal-citrate complexes, which were then polymerized [210,211]. Method was successfully applied in the synthesis of luminescent materials [212,213]. Final advantage of these methods allowed direct observation of the crystallization in the sol-gel with in-situ methods [214].…”
