Toward energy efficiency measures for design of the IDB-funded integrated classroom building in Universitas Negeri Malang

Abstract: Under the support from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) is going to build two-identical nine storey integrated classroom buildings. The buildings were designed to have green building certificate by proposing and fulfilling the requirements from the Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI) rating system. For design recognition (DR) phase, the system requires efforts and measures in energy efficiency. The paper analyses all design aspects and criteria included in the working draw… Show more

“…This cognitive ability is essential for tasks like reading maps, routing, and solving spatial problems (Griffin et al, 2020), and it holds particular significance in fields such as architecture, engineering, urban planning, and transportation (Ma, 2022). Awareness of spatial cognition allows architects and engineers to optimize spatial layouts for utilization, workflow, and safety (Hajji, 2019). In industrial settings, understanding spatial relationships enhances productivity, reduces errors, and improves operational performance (Azzali & Sabour, 2018).…”

“…It is necessary to manage education facilities and infrastructure that can create comfort and can improve the quality of life. Thermal comfort is a condition in which the mind expresses satisfaction in the thermal conditions -temperature, humidity, and airflow-of the environment [2][3][4]. Research on thermal comfort in increasing building user's productivity has been carried out to show that the level of productivity and human health is influenced by climatic conditions inside the building [5].…”

“…Research on the efforts of quantifying the energy consumption in tall building is part of the campaign for green and energy efficient construction. How the buildings and construction projects answer the responsibility upon energy use and environmental impacts are undertaken by plan and actions through construction's emission mitigation and its energy conservation (Aditya et al, 2017;Chwieduk, 2017;A. Hajji et al, 2019;A.…”
