Toward a research agenda on climate‐related migration

Abstract: Climate change is one of the many stressors to which humans must adapt. Environmental concerns usually combine with other factors such as poverty, ethnic strife, or poor governance to become serious enough problems to warrant strong action. Migration away from affected areas is one time-tested response. This article proposes a migration-oriented research agenda for industrial ecology based on an examination of migration flows and ways of thinking about them, variations across contexts, implications for infrast… Show more

“…UU. 100,101 , otros peligros también están intensificando las presiones migratorias (consulte la Figura 20.5). El incendio de Camp, que devastó Paradise y las comunidades circundantes del norte de California en noviembre de 2018, ilustra cómo la migración climática puede desencadenar impactos en cascada en lugares que reciben personas desplazadas (KM 28.4).…”

“…Yang, Liu, Wang, Chen, and Smith (2020) discuss the methods and systems‐oriented perspective at the heart of industrial ecology, and how they are well‐positioned to support adaptation efforts in developing regions. Last, Andrews (2020) takes on the challenge of framing industrial ecology for climate migration. He argues that industrial ecology often removes the critical context that is necessary to understand why and how migration will occur.…”
