With the recent development in network technology over a few years, digital works can be easily published online. One of the main issues in the field of digital technology is the infringement of digital works, which can seriously damage the data owners’ rights and affects the enthusiasm of the owners to create original work. Thus, more attention is required for the protection of digital copyright as it has a great impact on the development of society. Many digital copyright protection techniques were developed in the past, but still, there are many loopholes in the protection systems to be covered. The protection means are still relatively weak, timeliness is poor, infringement is frequent, a right determination is cumbersome, and the results are not ideal. Aiming at the mentioned problems, this paper proposes a protection technique, which can realize the automatic management of the complete digital rights life cycle on the blockchain using fabric's smart contract technology. The proposed system is based on blockchain technology, which leverages the distributed, tamper-proof and traceable characteristics of blockchain. The system uses smart contracts to manage the full life cycle of digital copyright. The test results show that the proposed system provides effective protection of the digital copyright system and can efficiently confirm the rights of digital copyright.

With the rise of digital images in our daily lives, there is a growing need to provide an image trading market where people can monetize their images and get desired images at prices that fit their budget. Those images are usually uploaded and stored onto centralized image trading service providers’ servers and the transactions for image trading are processed by these providers. Unfortunately, transaction unfairness and users’ privacy breaches have become major concerns since the service providers might be untrusted and able to manipulate image trading prices and infer users’ private information. Recently, several approaches have been proposed to address the unfairness issue by using the decentralized ledger technique and smart contract, but users’ privacy protection is not considered. In this paper, we propose a fair and privacy-preserving protocol that supports image fair exchange and protect user privacy. In particular, we exploit blockchain and Merkle tree to construct a fair image trading protocol with low communication overhead based on smart contract, which serves as an external judge that resolves disputes between buyers and sellers in image transactions. Moreover, we extend a popular short group signature scheme to protect users’ identity privacy, prevent linkability of transactions from being inferred, and ensure traceability of malicious users who may sell fake images and/or refuse to pay. Finally, we design and build a practical and open-source image trading system to evaluate the performance of our proposed protocol. Experimental results demonstrate its effectiveness and efficiency in real-world applications.

The rise of technology has resulted in the evolution of data generation at a rapid speed. With the high increase in the volume of data, it has become necessary to store it using reliable and scalable data management systems. Blockchain offers a storage structure that ensures the security and reliability of the stored data. Smart contracts further enhance the technology by enforcing more stringent record management activities. In recent times, there has been widespread utilization of IPFS in conjunction with blockchain technology. This utilization facilitates the establishment of decentralized and distributed data storage, as well as the connection of blockchain transactions to external data, thereby enhancing scalability and reducing storage expenses within blockchain applications. This paper introduces an effective collaborative ecosystem called SSE_CIB, where images undergo multiple operations including quantization before getting uploaded to IPFS. The image‐related details are stored in the blockchain to keep track of record entries. In our approach, a watermarking process has also been included to ensure the protection of copyright. Further, the images undergo block‐wise rotation based on a secret key and bit‐wise operation with a key image for enhanced security and protection. The work is implemented and tested using real‐life images in an Ethereum environment incorporated with a smart contract that enables proper execution of transactions.
