This study focuses on the relative importance for resident's wellbeing of different attributes of the living environment, namely urban typology, population density, green space type, green space quality, community and security, in the context of urban depopulation.The study used conjoint analysis, a methodology for comparing preferences, in three neighbourhoods in the Portuguese capital city. A total of 130 participants were recruited to take part in this study, based on whether their residential neighbourhood was growing in population (N=49) or depopulating (N=44); or whether they were searching for a new house at the moment (N=37).The results showed that residents of depopulating neighbourhoods value the presence of a friendly community more than the other participants and were less negative about high population densities. House buyers valued environments with good quality green spaces significantly more than the other two groups.These findings suggest that a friendlier community and the quality of its green spaces are key attributes in encouraging current dwellers to remain, and in attracting new residents to move in.These two attributes are known to be relevant factors for overall citizens' quality of life, health and wellbeing; they should, therefore, be given particular consideration in any intervention in depopulating contexts.

The unprecedented worldwide growth of Airbnb over the last decade deserves to be analysed from a geographical perspective so as to understand the underlying logic behind the spatial distribution of the accommodation offered on the platform. Multiple territorial and economic variables may influence this distribution. In this context, the article aims to analyse the spatial distribution of Airbnb in Switzerland and identify its determinants. Geographical Information Systems are used to analyse the geographical distribution of Airbnb listings, and Negative Binomial Models are applied to identify its determining factors. Results are particularly interesting as they highlight that Airbnb listings are mainly clustered geographically in specific areas of the country. The success of Airbnb as an accommodation supply platform has led to a concentration of Airbnb listings in areas of Switzerland where hotel supply is significant, but also in areas where there is a high presence of second homes and the potential for generating profit from the housing market is greater.Zusammenfassung: Angesichts des beispiellosen weltweiten Wachstums von Airbnb in den zurückliegenden zehn Jahren, drängt sich aus geographischer Perspektive die Frage nach der zugrunde liegenden Logik hinter der räumlichen Verteilung der auf dieser Plattform angebotenen Unterkünfte auf. Mehrere territoriale und wirtschaftliche Variablen können diese Verteilung beeinflussen. In diesem Zusammenhang zielt der Artikel darauf ab, die räumliche Verteilung von Airbnb-Angeboten in der Schweiz zu analysieren und deren Determinanten zu identifizieren. Geographische Informationssysteme werden verwendet, um die geografische Verteilung der Airbnb-Angebote zu analysieren, und Negative Binomiale Modelle werden verwendet, um ihre bestimmenden Faktoren zu identifizieren. Die Ergebnisse sind besonders interessant, da sie zeigen, dass die Airbnb-Angebote hauptsächlich in bestimmten Gebieten des Landes gebündelt sind. Der Erfolg von Airbnb als Unterkunftsversorgungsplattform hat sowohl zu einer Konzentration der Airbnb-Angebote in Gebieten der Schweiz geführt, in denen die Hotelversorgung bedeutend ist, aber auch in Gebieten, in denen es eine hohe Präsenz von Zweitwohnungen gibt und das Gewinnpotenzial auf dem Wohnungsmarkt größer ist.

Os destinos turísticos consolidados muitas vezes caracterizam-se por mudanças de suas atividades e negócios, em que os agentes locais podem se ver deslocados de suas antigas funções em razão de investimentos de porte nacional e internacional. Este estudo objetiva reconhecer a existência de empreendedores locais dando suporte na atividade turística na área central de Gramado (RS). Esta condição faz-se necessária para um turismo comprometido com o desenvolvimento local quanto a aspectos social e econômico. Como percurso metodológico, identifica-se a origem dos estabelecimentos e faz-se uma associação acerca de seu aporte financeiro por meio de observação direta e indireta. Adota-se como recorte espacial a área central turística da cidade. Nesta pesquisa qualitativa, identificam-se linearmente 294 unidades funcionais deste ponto nevrálgico de circulação turística. Na abordagem compreende-se o processo de apropriação socioespacial ao contrastar os atuais proprietários com os anteriores e a ocupação dos lotes. A pesquisa também tem um suporte documental (textual e fotográfico). Observa-se a existência de uma estrutura marcante do turismo comprometido com os atores locais, embora o grande capital esteja pontualmente presente na área estudada. A questão de funcionalidade e a dinâmica fundiária caracterizam-se por um processo de gentrificação com a atividade turística suplantando as anteriores.
