Total costs of shell and tube heat exchangers with concentric helical tube coils

Abstract: The paper deals with the manufacturing costs of shell and tube heat exchangers with concentric helical tube coils. The most common correlations for calculating prices of shell and tube heat exchangers found in accessible literature were tested using the market data for a comparison and they have shown significant deviations. A new correlation for estimating prices of heat exchangers with concentric helical tubes (when the shell is made of carbon steel and the helical tube of copper) was determined in the follo… Show more

“…An understanding of the economic aspects is crucial for the applicability and feasibility of these heat exchange systems. Many approaches to cost estimation have been developed in the literature that depend on a variety of important variables, such as the type of apparatus, operating pressure, heat-transfer surface area, and material composition [46][47][48].…”

“…Columns (tower) are a process apparatus in which the process of enrichment of gas or liquid, depletion of gas or liquid, or fractionation of liquid takes place, and undesirable components such as hydrogen-sulfide (H 2 S), nitrogen (N 2 ), carbon-dioxide (CO 2 ), water, etc. can cause health issues, corrosion of process units, and poorer calorific values [1][2][3][4].…”
