Total Arterial Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting

Abstract: Background:Arterial grafts had better mid-term and long-term patency than saphenous vein grafts in coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). We summarized our experience with total arterial off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCAB) and assessed the early clinical results, surgical complications, and follow-up.Methods:From January 2007 to May 2017, 508 coronary artery disease patients undergoing total arterial OPCAB were enrolled. Clinical features, approaches, outcomes of surgical treatments, and follow-u… Show more

“…With the update and progress of cardiac surgery technology, OPCABG has been more and more favored by cardiac surgeons. Although the debating of OPCABG and CABG remained, OPCABG has similar survival rate comparing with CABG presently, and it shows great advantages for some older and severe patients 1,2,[36][37][38][39] .…”

“…The “no-touch” technique seems to retain perivascular adipose tissue, provides a protection medium for SVs, maintains the integrity of ECs, and preserves EC function. [ 6 ] Some studies have focused on the vein patency of “off-pump” CABG in comparison to “on-pump” CABG. The Randomized On/Off Bypass Trial (ROOBY) randomized 2203 patients (“on-pump” or “off-pump” CABG), and the angiographic results showed that the graft patency after 1 year of “off-pump” CABG was significantly lower than that after “on-pump” CABG.…”
