Abstract: After the collapse of Fundão Dam in Mariana‐MG, Brazil, the discharge of iron ore mining waste into the Doce River watershed negatively impacted the landscape. Monitoring the composition and species richness of soil microbiota may be useful bioindicators of ecosystem recovery.
