“…This could be possibly due to displacement of prosthesis. 11 The hearing gain in CWUP was relatively better than CWDP though not statistically significant reinforcing the usefulness of retaining the posterior meatal wall without compromising disease clearance for better hearing outcomes ( Figure 2). This is similar to the results published by Faramarzi et al where the success rate in CWUP was more than CWDP patients but the difference was not significant.…”

“…1). The final 40 studies included a total of 3,116 participants with an average of 76.9 participants per study (Supplemental Table 2, http://links.lww.com/MAO/B542) (11–50). The average age was 36.4 years.…”

“…Finally, in the fifth highlights article, Cox and colleagues 5 examine the effects of a titanium stapes footplate prosthesis (FPP) in patients undergoing surgical treatment using a total ossicular replacement prosthesis (TORP). The authors retrospectively evaluated 53 patients undergoing TORP with an FPP and compared them with 108 patients who underwent TORP without an FPP, assessing the effects on air‐bone gap and improvement in pure‐tone average at follow‐up.…”
