Topology and Geometry Optimization of Branched Sheet Metal Products

Abstract: In order to optimize branched sheet metal profiles consisting of several chambers, decisions concerning topology and geometry have to be made. This leads to a problem entailing discrete and nonlinear features. We describe an integrated approach combining both aspects. The underlying idea is to use a branch‐and‐bound algorithm.
