Topological order in the phase diagram for high-temperature superconductors with point defects

Abstract: Applying a Lindemann-like criterion obtained previously by Kierfeld, Nattermann and Hwa [Phys. Rev. B 55, 626 (1997)], we estimate the magnetic field and temperature for a high-T c superconductor, at which a topologically ordered vortex glass phase becomes unstable with respect to a disorder-induced formation of dislocations. The employed criterion is shown to be equivalent to a conventional phenomenological Lindemann criterion including the values for the numerical factors, i.e., for the Lindemann-number. The… Show more

“…Melting on T scans appears to occur discontinuously out of the MG at these field values [48,49]. Our MG phase is similar to the recently proposed "amorphous vortex glass" [23,50]. Like the "phase-incoherent vortex glass" studied in detail in Ref.…”

“…1 summarizes the currently popular view of the phase behaviour in the mixed phase of weakly disordered single crystals of anisotropic high-T c systems such as BSCCO [9,16,17,20,[23][24][25]. (This disorder is assumed to arise from a large density of weak point pinning sites in this paper [26].)…”

“…As has already been mentioned above, only the intersection point of the melting and the order-disorder lines has a physical meaning rather than the end point of H dis (t). The temperature of this intersection point, t i , can be simply estimated using formulas (26) and (30). Then we arrive at the following equation for t i :…”

“…The use of the square crystals provides therefore a unique method to study the true bulk vortex properties in the quasi-lattice or Bragg glass phase [20][21][22][23] below the FOT. Figure 5 shows an example of the resistive behavior of square crystal at 100 Oe for various currents.…”
