Topical effect of thiamethoxam on adults of Rhynchophorus palmarum L. (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) in laboratory

Abstract: Due to the ability to locate the host plant over long distances, and the direct and indirect damage that are caused, Rhynchophorus palmarum L. (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) is considered a key pest of coconut crop. Therefore, the objective of this research was to evaluate the efficiency by contact of the insecticide thiamethoxam on adults of R. palmarum, determining the lethal concentrations (LC50 and LC90), under laboratory conditions. One mL of insecticide solution was applied to the insect body at concentrati… Show more

“…Table 1 shows the results of the impact of the leaf, flower, and twig aqueous extracts (at different concentrations) on the mean germination time (MGT), coefficient of velocity of germination (CVG), and germination rate index [39] of A. gerrardii seeds. At 60 and 100 g/L, the leaf and flower extracts significantly increased the MGT of A. gerrardii seeds (p = 0.0001), while in the case of using the twig extracts, it slightly increased.…”
