Abstract: TAP discoloured the tooth structure, but discolouration could be reversed with sodium perborate paste. In general, teeth with closed and open apices had the same rates of discolouration and bleaching.

“…D’Mello & Moloney () recently reported a case of a discoloured maxillary central incisor which was successfully managed by cutting back 1 mm of the coronal MTA, leaving over 3 mm apically, and internally bleaching with sodium perborate for 2 weeks. Kirchoff et al () also reported success with sodium perborate internal bleaching (Kirchhoff et al ). However, other studies have reported limited success with this technique (Kim et al , McTigue et al ).…”

“…Bleaching of discoloured teeth is generally effective to improve the aesthetic outcome (Kirchhoff et al . ). As discolouration is a known adverse outcome from teeth treated with RET, this issue must be discussed prior to treatment with RET being commenced as part of the informed consent process.…”

“…To minimize the risk of discolouration, Biodentine instead of MTA can be used (Marconyak et al 2016, Shokouhinejad et al 2016, Yoldas ß et al 2016. “…In opposite, bleaching agents are applied directly over the dentinal tissue only when internal bleaching procedures are performed in non-vital teeth, while the agent is placed into the pulpal chamber. [15][16][17][18] Usually, internal tooth bleaching procedures are carried out with sodium perborate or carbamide peroxide based bleaching agents in a so-called walking bleaching (mediate technique). 15,17,18 However, high-concentration hydrogen peroxide is also used for immediate internal tooth bleaching.…”
