In many cities, public transport has a higher ridership level from women compared to men, yet most systems are not designed for them. Many female riders fear of being a victim. Most of their negative experiences are usually associated with the urban environment in and around stations/stops. Integrated public transport systems will require users to make more transfers, thus increasing the proportion of their journey time they spend waiting for a vehicle (intial and transfer waiting time). Previous research revealed that women are very sensitive to transfer waiting times but the reason is not clear. This study investigates how the fear of victimization influences female riders' perception of safety during waiting times. An online survey was undertaken in Auckland, New Zealand and responses from 448 femalempublic transport users were attained. Findings provide some evidence of the concerning level of anxiety women experience while waiting. Results showed that they rely on mobile phones and headphones as a defense mechanism to their feeling of apprehension. They remain alert of their surroundings and pretend to be confident while waiting. Women with ethnic backgrounds feel less safe during the day compared to Caucasian women. They were found to be more frequent users of mobile apps to determine the duration of waiting time compared to Caucasian women. In addition, it was found that social perceptions of safety from family and friends has an influence on how women perceive their personal safety while waiting at terminals. To create an equitable public transport service, where the predominant users are women, decision makers are recommended to more explicitly consider the safety needs of female riders in and at surrounding areas of terminals.

This paper aims to find out the best traffic mode connecting the regional metro station and provide several suggestions to promote it. Dishui Lake subway station was selected for the case study. In order to find the best transfer mode to promote, an evaluation system was established according to the principle of accessible, affordable, convenient, effective, environment-friendly, safe, and speedy. TOPSIS is used to rank the four connection modes of Dishui Lake subway station, and it was found that the transfer modes that were most consistent with the stated principle in the area were walking and bus. In the promotion of these two modes, the influencing factors to passengers’ mode choice are analyzed and classified into 3 aspects, psychological, operational, and policy. Eventually, some targeted suggestions are put forward according to the influencing factors under each category.

The paper is focused on the issue of assessing the quality of transport connectivity on a predesignated transport network in regular public passenger transport at a regional scale. Comprehensively, using the defined key qualitative indicators, it assesses the performance of passenger transport timetables, in both ways of ex ante, as well as ex post. Existing methodologies in a given issue have only dealt with a partial assessment of the transport connectivity quality on specific transport network. However, unlike them, the objective of this manuscript was to propose a new unified methodology to assess the passenger transport timetables in terms of transport connectivity, and subsequently to complexly evaluate the whole predesignated regional transport network from a qualitative point of view. In this paper, the proposed methodology is demonstrated on a particular regional transport network, specifically an existing railway network in the Slovak Republic, whereby the data related to regional passenger transport timetables for a certain day is an input factor. The purpose of this study was to design and verify a draft methodological procedure to assess the quality of transport connectivity on a certain transport network, thus moving towards more effective evaluation of integrated transport systems. Its practical applicability consists in comparison of existing and proposed timetables, which is considered one of the crucial factors in terms of public passenger transport quality.Sustainability 2019, 11, 3532 2 of 18 in the Slovak Republic is poor, in particular in regard to demands placed on it. Regional differences in the quality of transport network, which has far-reaching consequences in terms of increasing economic and social disparities among individual parts of the country, are also apparent [4][5][6][7]. Previous research studies [8][9][10][11][12] have confirmed that the quality of transport infrastructure is considered a crucial element which makes decisions about the foreign investment allocation very often. The offered quality of transport network connectivity is considerably related to services provided within transport sector [4].The main task of transport is to satisfy the customers' requirements for quality, flexible, fast, and safe transportation of passengers and cargo [1,3]. Quality is differently perceived from the transport user [12], transport services provider, or transport organizer point of view, but also from the society-wide point of view.
