Tonal Tuning of a Variable Inertia Vibration Absorber: A Feasibility Study

Abstract: The primary goal of this study is to investigate the dynamics of a new class of adaptive Tuned Vibration Absorber (TVA): A variable effective inertia absorber. In particular, the accuracy of linearization of the dynamic equations, the effect of the moving mass on the dynamics of the absorber, and steady state vibration of the primary system are investigated.
