“…The significant differences in HMs in the roots of different maize varieties may be related to differences in the composition or release rate of root secretions. Wei found that most HMs, including Pb, Cr, Mn, and Zn, were mainly enriched in the plant roots [33,34]. In the present study, obvious discrepancies in the concentrations of Cd, As, Pb, and Cr among the different parts of the 11 maize varieties were observed.…”

“…Hyperaccumulators, such as sedum, solanum, rapeseed, mustard, clover, switchgrass, were used to adsorb or degrade heavy metal pollutants in the soil, which as an ideal method at present being the characteristics of simple, low cost, little damage to farmland, suitable for large-area treatment and not easy to cause secondary pollution ( Yu et al., 2019 ; Nazli et al., 2020 ; Xu et al., 2020 ). However, compared with the super-accumulating bacteria, cotton is an inedible cash crop with a large biomass and a strong ability to absorb and accumulate Cd ( Li et al., 2020 ). It is an ideal crop for remediation of Cd-contaminated soil, with unique ecological and economic advantages.…”

“…Arsenic (As), a hazardous metalloid element in the earth’s crust, poses a significant environmental threat worldwide due to its widespread contamination in groundwater and soil. This contamination has garnered increasing attention regarding the global security of agricultural products ( Li et al, 2018a , 2020 ). As also enriched in orpiment, realgar, and other ores in nature ( Sharma et al, 2020 ).…”

“…The establishment of AMF symbiosis involves complex signaling events that often involve the recruitment and modification of gene expression patterns in host plants to fulfill the symbiotic requirements, and this process ultimately leads to changes in the expression of mycorrhiza-regulated genes in the host plants ( Song et al, 2014 ). RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) is an effective method for investigating the transcriptome-wide response of plants and elucidating the underlying molecular mechanisms ( Li et al, 2020 ). This method generates vast annotation information on differentially expressed genes, providing opportunities for function analysis of genes regulated by specific factors ( Ma et al, 2018 ).…”
