“…JAZ repressors have been universally reported to participate in extensive plant growth activities and stress responses and to play a hub role in hormonal crosstalk between SA-JA, ETH-JA and AUX-JA 7 . Eighteen JAZs have been found in apples 26 , 7 in sugarcane 27 , 18 in the rubber tree 28 , 15 in tobacco 29 and 13 in tomatoes. However, the functional role of JAZ genes in the tea plant is poorly understood.…”

“…Bioinformatics analysis revealed that the PatJAZ6 gene showed high homology with 12 JAZs from A. thaliana Arabidopsis and contained highly conserved ZIM and Jas domains, indicating that PatJAZ6 may have similar effects to previously reported JAZ proteins. The expression profiles under MeJA revealed that 300 µM MeJA was the lowest effective concentration to detect the expression of PatJAZ6 , this concentration is higher in comparison with other JAZs, such as NtJAZ in tobacco [29] and SmJAZ in Salvia miltiorrhiza [30], that response to 100 µM MeJA. Subcellular localization results showed that PatJAZ6 was localized in the nucleus (Figure 2).…”

“…NtJAZ1 and NtJAZ3 are two repressors of nicotine biosynthesis (Shoji and Hashimoto, 2011b;Shoji et al, 2008;Zhang et al, 2012). In recent, NtJAZs were mined from the tobacco genomes, showing that NtJAZ7, and NtJAZ10 were also associated with the regulation of nicotine biosynthesis (Zhang et al, 2019). We identified the promoter sequences of 13 NtJAZs from the genome of NC90 tobacco curated at NCBI and named these as NtJAZ1pro through NtJAZ13pro.…”

“…When roots lack the bioactive isoleucine-JA (JA-Ile), two N. tabacum JAZ repressors, NtJAZ1 and NtJAZ3, bind to NtMYC2 to turn off the nicotine biosynthesis. In addition, a recent study revealed additional 13 NtJAZs, in which NtJAZ7 and 10 were shown to associate with the regulation of the nicotine biosynthesis (Zhang et al, 2019). When JA-Ile exists, it induces the interaction of SCF COI1 and JAZ to form a complex, which leads to the ubiquitination of JAZs to release NtMYC2.…”
