TL Ages of Loesses from the Last Two Glacials in Se Poland

Abstract: Loesses cover a large area in SE Poland so their exploration is an important part of the palaeogeographical studies on Pleistocene. The research involves stratigraphic problems. At present, luminescence dating provides the greatest number of chronostratigraphic data concerning loesses. In this work we report TL ages of loesses from the last two glacial cycles in SE Poland, obtained in the TL Laboratory of the Department of Physical Geography and Palaeogeography, Maria CurieSkłodowska University in Lublin after… Show more

“…'Bed C' clearly corresponds with Younger Upper Loess (LMg) or L1-l1 loess. The chronometric dates that were recorded for bed 'C' (27e11 ka) correspond well with the TL dating of L1-l1 loess in southeastern Poland (30e17 ka e Kusiak et al, 2007) and Upper Pleniglacial loess in numerous European sites (28e13 ka e Frechen et al, 2003). However, Krasyliv and Rivne interstadial paleosols, which were distinguished inside L1-l1 loess at a number of Polish and Ukrainian sites (e.g., Łanczont and Madeyska, 2015), were not observed in cave loess.…”

“…Kusiak (unpublished data) in the TL laboratory of the Maria Curie-Sk1odowska University in Lublin. In these laboratories different modifications of the TL method are used (Fedorowicz, 2006;Kusiak et al, 2002Kusiak et al, , 2007Kusiak and qanczont, 2000). In the Gdań sk laboratory the equivalent dose is determined using regeneration technique (R), and in the Lublin laboratorytotal-bleach technique (TB).…”

“…Parallel TL dating of this profile has been carried out by Fedorowicz (2006) who obtained 10 TL dates from samples which were collected from positions similar to those in the Jary (2007) investigation. Independent luminescence research was carried out by Kusiak and Łanczont (2000) and Kusiak (2007Kusiak ( , 2008 who dated 6 samples using the TL method.…”
