Abstract:The antibody titres against E. coli 0:14 were examined with an haemagglutination method in the serum of patients with ulcerative colitis and of those suffering from other diseases. No significant difference was observed between the groups of patients. These results, which contradict previously published data, do not support the view that E. coli plays an important role in the pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis.
