Titanita-Biotita Granitos Do Baixo Rio Uaupés, Província Rio Negro, Amazonas. Parte I: Geologia, Petrografia E Geocronologia

Abstract: TITANITE-BIOTITE GRANITES OF THE UAUPÉS RIVER, RIO NEGRO PROVINCE, AMAZONAS STATE BRAZIL. PART I: GEOLOGY, PETROGRAPHY AND GEOCHRONOLOGY. Titanitebiotite granitoids and gneisses are dominant rocks in the Rio Negro Province (RNP), NW Amazonas State, Brazil.Batholithic bodies, composed of these rocks, outcrop in the Low Uaupés River area. In this region, little deformed titanite-biotite monzogranites (TBMG) are the major rock type. The granites of this area are here named Rio Uaupés Granite (RUG). Their principa… Show more

“…The plateaux are characterized by ferralsol‐podzol soil systems where giant podzols developed from the centre at the expense of yellow, small exchange capacity clay ferralsols, as described elsewhere (Veillon, ; Dubroeucq & Volkoff, ; Do Nascimento et al , ). The geological substratum is composed of crystalline rocks from the São Gabriel da Cachoeira granitic body, the composition of which varies between monzogranitic, sienogranitic and quartzomonzonitic (Dall´Agnol & Macambira, ). The climate is typically equatorial, with an annual rainfall of around 2900 mm without a marked dry season, but with a great inter‐annual variability.…”
