Tip-Timing Measurements and Numerical Analysis of Last-Stage Steam Turbine Mistuned Bladed Disc During Run-Down

Abstract: Background This paper presents the experimental and numerical studies of last-stage low-pressure (LP) mistuned steam turbine bladed discs during run-down. Methods The natural frequencies and mode shapes of the turbine bladed disc were calculated using an FE model. The influence of the shaft on the modal properties, such as natural frequencies and mode shapes, was considered. The tip-timing method was used to find the mistuned bladed disc modes and frequencies. Conclusions The experimental results from the tip-… Show more

“…In recent years, enterprises, research institutions, and universities have invested significant resources in the research of BTT technology in the field of turbomachinery, resulting in a wealth of research results and extensive experience in theoretical methods and engineering practice [10]. General Electric, Pratt &Whitney, and Rolls-Royce all applied BTT technology to the safety detection of engine blades [11].…”

“…Either energy or exergy analyses did not take into consideration steam turbine (or any other observed volume) inner structure [42,43]. Along with mentioned, there also exist various other types of steam turbine numerical analyses which may (or may not) take into consideration turbine inner structure [44,45].…”

“…Some authors dealt with the mistuning problems of small rotors of automotive turbochargers [21,22]. One paper [23] presented the experimental and numerical studies of last-stage low-pressure mistuned steam turbine bladed discs during run-down. The tip-timing method was used to find the mistuned bladed disc modes and frequencies.…”
