Tinea corporis bullosa

Abstract: Summary. The paper reports a case of tinea corporis bullosa in a 63‐year‐old woman. Near the classical annular lesions on the anterior surface of the left leg, the patient presented frank bullous lesions. Serous fluid from the bulla yielded Microsporum canis, the first report of the association of this fungus with bullous lesions in tinea corporis. The patient was investigated with routine examinations and immunological studies which showed an intense inflammatory process much greater than in usual cases of t… Show more

“…[1] Few cases of bullous tinea corporis have been described as well, but direct immunefluorescence (DIF) findings in those reports are not documented. [2345] One case of bullous tinea pedis with DIF positivity has been reported. [6] Few other infections such as orf and herpes can also rarely present with positive DIF findings.…”

“…In the majority of cases, superficial fungal infections may present with spongiotic, psoriasiform, vasculopathic and folliculitis/ perifolliculitis histopathological reaction patterns. However, non-typical microscopic findings were recently described: lichenoid, vesiculobullous acantholytic and eosinophilic folliculitis (4)(5)(6)(7)(8).…”

“…Der kulturelle Pilznachweis ist uns in diesem Fall jedoch nicht gelungen. In den sieben bisher beschriebenen Fällen von Tinea corporis bullosa [9,10] We report on a 39-year old female patient and her 4-year old daughter with bullous lesions of the skin. Histology showed a bullous tinea corporis, probably caused by the proven microsporum canis-infection of their cat.…”

“…Atypische Präsentationen können die Diagnose jedoch erheblich erschweren [8]. Bullöse Formen der Tinea corporis wurden bisher nur selten beschrieben [9,10], ein gemeinsames Auftreten bei mehreren Familienmitgliedern wurde bisher nicht berichtet. Sehr stark ausgebreitete mykotische Infektionsherde kommen eher bei immunkompromittierten oder HIV-positiven Patienten vor [11,12].…”
