Abstract:The SLC thermionic gun and electron source produce a beam of up to 15x10'° t~ in a single S-band bunch. A 1701>e\. 2 ns FWHM pulse ot! of the gun is compressed by means of iwu subharmonk buucliT cavities followed by an S-band buncher and a standard SLAC Accelerating section. Ceramic gaps in the beam pipe at the output of the gun allow a measure of the beam intensity and liming. A measurement at these gaps of the timing jitter, with a resolution of < 10 ps, is described.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
