Regular physical activity during pregnancy has a positive effect on the mother and fetus. However, there is scarce data regarding the effect of exercise in pregnancies complicated by gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). The aim of the present parallel, non-randomized, open-label, pilot, clinical study was to examine the effect of two exercise programs on the resting metabolic rate (RMR) and substrate utilization in pregnancies complicated by GDM, compared with usual care (advice for the performance of exercise). Forty-three pregnant women diagnosed with GDM between the 24th and 28th gestational week, volunteered to participate. Three groups were formed: Usual care (n = 17), Walking (n = 14), and Mixed Exercise (n = 12). The Usual care group was given advice on maintaining habitual daily activities without any additional exercise. The Walking group exercised regularly by walking, in addition to the habitual daily activities. Finally, the Mixed Exercise group participated in a program combining aerobics and strength exercises. Training intensity was monitored continuously using lightweight, wearable monitoring devices. The Walking and Mixed Exercise groups participated in the training programs after being diagnosed with GDM and maintained them until the last week of gestation. RMR and substrate utilization were analyzed using indirect calorimetry for all participants twice: between 27th and 28th gestational week and as close as possible before delivery. No differences were observed between groups regarding body composition, age, and medical or obstetrical parameters before or after the exercise programs. RMR was increased after the completion of the exercise interventions in both the Walking (p = 0.001) and the Mixed Exercise arms (p = 0.002). In contrast, substrate utilization remained indifferent. In conclusion, regular exercise of moderate intensity (either walking, or a combination of aerobic and strength training) increases RMR in women with GDM compared to the lack of systematic exercise. However, based on the present, pilot data, these exercise regimes do not appear to alter resting substrate utilization.

Objective. Intermittent fasting (IF) is a diet regime that has been widely explored for its effect on weight loss, heart health and oxidative stress, especially in Type 2 Diabetes. The number of women suffering from Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) is increasing globally. Hence, the following review aims to explore the importance of IF in women suffering from GDM concerning maternal and neonatal outcomes and dietary quality and compliance. Materials and Methods.A systematic literature search was done using PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar and Web of Science to review the interrelationship between intermittent fasting and GDM. Results.Evidence from studies support that intermittent fasting or other types of energy restriction along with exercise helps to improve mother and fetus-related outcomes in women with GDM. Evidence suggests that IF can help reduce blood sugar levels and weight of women suffering from GDM. A mother performing IF during pregnancy, especially with GDM, poses a risk to the ideal development and growth of the child, resulting in infants with low birth weight or excessive birth weight along with other complications. Conclusions.Various dietary regimes are prescribed for women with GDM. Our review illustrates how the role of IF in women with GDM is controversial. On one side, IF has shown beneficial effects on maternal health in women suffering from GDM. On the other side, IF shows questionable results on neonatal outcomes.

BackgroundSNRPC is cloned on human chromosome 6p21.31, which encodes a special protein component of U1 snRNP granules. Although SNRPC played an important role in the pre-mRNA splicing starting and adjustment, but in the tumor biological function is still unknown.MethodThrough the pan-cancer analysis of SNRPC, and our data sets, phosphorylation and functional network analysis based on TCGA (Cancer Genome Map) and GEO (Integrated Gene Expression Database), also from the western blot, qRT-PCR and CCK-8, cloning-forming experiment, scratch experiment to prove SNRPC biological function.ResultsSNRPC is related to the regulation of RNA, shear, and protease signals and has an important effect on ovarian cancer prognosis. Through a series of biological information data mining and basic experiments, we found that SNRPC plays an important role in the proliferation and migration of ovarian cancer. SNRPC expression is positively correlated with the immersion of CD4+T cells, macrophages, and neutrophils (p< 0.05), as obtained through the TIMER database (Tumor Immunological Assessment Resources) database. ConclusionOur pan-cancer research provides SNRPC in different tumors, especially the relatively comprehensive understanding of the carcinogenic potential of ovarian cancer.
