Time is a gift: time-dependent uptake of DPD in cardiac amyloidosis

Abstract

WHAT IS CARDIAC AMYLOID?Cardiac Amyloidosis is caused by the deposition of misfolded or misassembled proteins leading to progressive heart failure (both systolic and diastolic) and death. 1 The misfolded proteins can be immunoglobulin light chains produced by a clonal plasma cell disorder (AL) or transthyretin protein produced by the liver (ATTR). 2 ATTR Amyloid is further characterized into wild type caused by age-related transthyretin misfolding (ATTR wt ) and a familial form defined by a mutation variant (ATTR v ). 2 Untreated cardiac amyloid has a high morbidity and mortality cost, thus timely diagnosis and initiation of treatment is crucial.
