Time division inter‐satellite link topology generation problem: Modeling and solution

Abstract: In this paper, we study the time-division inter-satellite link topology generation (TDILTG) problem for the well-known Chinese BeiDou Global Navigation Satellite System. The TDILTG problem consists in generating a time-division topology of the inter-satellite link network for the navigation satellite system to spread systematic data to all satellites via a few source satellites with the purpose of minimizing the time required to spread the data. We propose a mathematical model to formulate the TDILTG problem a… Show more

“…In situations where the signals have to travel large distances, it is typically assumed that the signal is sent to one neighbor at the time. Inter-satellite communication networks thus constitute a prominent application area [4]. Particularly, the MBT problem arises when one or a few satellites need to broadcast data quickly by means of time-division multiplexing.…”

“…For the Time-Division Inter-Satellite Link Topology Generation (TDILTG) problem, Chu et. al [19] put forward a mathematical model to formulate the TDILTG problem. Besides, [19] also proposed a very effective deterministic constructive algorithm to solve this problem.…”

“…Manuscript received: 2021-05-23; revised: 2021-08-03; accepted: 2021-08-29 constellation; however, their topology handling mode, which separates ranging and communication, is unsuitable for the latest systems. Hou et al [9] described a type of data transmission problem, investigated its computational complexity, and proposed a linear programming model to solve it. Chu and Chen [10] proposed a mathematical model and presented a deterministic constructive algorithm to minimize the time required to transmit systematic data.…”
