Tide pools are important environments for several fish species, as they offer essential resources such as shelter and food. Thus, understanding the relationships of the ichthyofauna with the habitat structural characteristics in tide pools is important to understand the distribution patterns of fish assemblages in shallow environments. This study investigated how the habitat structure in tide pools influences the reef fish assemblages in Southwestern Atlantic (Bahia, Brazil). During 17 months, tidal pools were evaluated through visual censuses aiming to sampling the ichthyofauna, and additionally, variables of the structural characteristics of the pools (depth, area, volume, rugosity, etc.) were measured. By using multiple statistical modeling approaches, we found that there were significant differences in diversity, abundance, and species richness at the interaction between time and space factors, with higher averages of the three variables during the warmer months across all reef banks. Moreover, at local spatial scale, greater coral‐dominated and complex pools harbored higher fish species and diversity, while algae cover was most important in shaping fish numbers. The most important variables in the structuring of the fish assemblages were the pool volume, distance from the edge of the reef, and habitat complexity, confirming our hypothesis. Resident fish species were found in pools near the out reef edge, while occasional and transient species were found in pools closer to the inland sea. Our study highlights the multi‐scale role of habitat characteristics as predictors of the fish assemblage structure in these extremely variable environments and emphasizes the need to protect these fragile and overexploited tidal pools.

Kerapu (Blue-lined seabass) merupakan produk ekspor, pasar ikan kerapu tidak terdengar gaungnya di dalam negeri, karena sebagian besar produknya ”dijual” ke luar negeri dalam keadaan hidup ke beberapa negara seperti Singapura, Jepang, Hongkong, Taiwan, Malaysia dan Amerika Serikat. Produksi kerapu masih mengandalkan hasil tangkapan dari laut, meskipun sekarang mulai dirintis kegiatan restoking namun perkembangan dan pertumbuhan hasil kegiatan tersebut belum diketahui dampaknya terhadap perkembangan stok ikan kerapu. Sementara itu tingginya permintaan dan nilai ekonomis berpengaruh terhadap frekuensi upaya tangkapan, sehingga informasi awal keberadaan stok cadangan ikan Kerapu (Blue-lined seabass) sangat diperlukan, hal ini digunakan sebagai pijakan awal untuk menciptakan sumberdaya Kerapu berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk : mendapatkan potensi stok cadangan Kerapu (Blue-lined seabass) perairan Situbondo dengan menggunakan model Walter dan Hilborn sehingga didapatkan tangkapan maksimum (CMSY), upaya tangkapan (EMSY) serta potensi lestari (Pe). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dan teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa nilai CSMY 29.894.60,12 kg/tahun, EMSY 789.166 trip/tahun, jenis alat tangkap pancing merupakan alat tangkap standar, nilai kecepatan pertumbuhan intrisik populasi (r) Kerapu (Blue-lined seabass) sebesar 47.35 % per tahun, daya dukung maksimum dari perairan (k) sebesar 252537,451 kg/tahun, kemampuan menangkap (q) sebesar 0,0000003 dan potensi sumberdaya Kerapu (Blue-lined seabass) (Pe) sebesar 126268,726 kg/tahun. Sedangkan potensi cadangan biomas tahun 2030 kondisi open acces sebesar 82.863,95 Kg, bila dibandingkan dengan kondisi potensi lestari 2030 hanya tersisa 49 %. Direkomendasikan untuk segera dirintis sinergi antara upaya ekploitasi (tangkapan) dan upaya restoking (budidaya) untuk menciptakan sumberdaya kerapu berkelanjutan.

Se realizó una serie de muestreos en el intermareal rocoso al norte de la isla de Tenerife (Islas Canarias, España) con el objetivo de recopilar datos de abundancia y tallas de la especie Epinephelus marginatus (Lowe, 1834), familia Serranidae, conocida coloquialmente como mero. Esta especie es un recurso pesquero importante con una amplia distribución en zonas litorales, y cuyas zonas de cría son los charcos intermareales. En el presente estudio se muestrearon charcos al azar de diferentes volúmenes: pequeños (<10 m 3), medianos (10 m 3-80 m 3) y grandes (>80 m 3), con la finalidad de encontrar diferencias en la abundancia y la talla en función del tamaño del charco. Las zonas de estudio se localizaron en Punta del Hidalgo y Finca El Apio, tomando datos en 22 charcos en los cuales se contaron un total de ocho juveniles de E. marginatus. Los análisis mostraron una influencia significativa del tamaño del charco, de tal forma que los individuos de mayor talla se encontraron en los charcos de mayor volumen.
