Abstract:Tick‐borne flaviviruses (TBFV) are transmitted by either tick‐bite or consumption of raw milk products from infected ruminants. After crossing the blood‐brain barrier, the virus enters the central nervous system (CNS) leading to neural inflammation and causing neurological complications. Individual viruses within this group, show differences in tissue tropism and pathogenicity. The mechanisms behind these differences are poorly understood, but likely result from a mix of direct viral replication and cellular r… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
