Abstract:Leading cause of death in pregnant women still remains venous thromboembolism, with an incidence of 1.4 to 4.9 per 100,000 pregnancies. A special group of inherited and acquired coagulation disorders associated with a susceptibility to thrombosis is thrombophilia. Physiological changes during the pregnancy also contribute to the occurrence thromboembolic diseases (VTE) in pregnancy.
