Thromboelastography in the evaluation of coagulation disorders in patients with sepsis

Abstract: V-myb avian myeloblastosis viral oncogene homolog (MYB) transcription factors play important roles in the processes of plant growth, development, and stress responses. In this study, a full-length cDNA sequence of a MYB gene, designated FvMYB1, was isolated from Arizona ash (Fraxinus velutina Torr.) for the first time. Sequence analysis showed that the deduced amino acid sequence of FvMYB1 encoded novel MYB proteins with single DNA binding domains. Based on the R3 domain amino acid sequence, the FvMYB1 was clo… Show more

“…They noticed that patients with SIRS-sepsis had hypercoagulability as compared to the control group. [14] Luckner et al in 2008 studied a case series of patients with sepsis who were planned for emergency laparotomy and had significantly deranged standard coagulation tests with a putatively increased risk of bleeding as per these coagulation assays. However, TEG was suggestive of hypercoagulability in these patients and surgery could be performed with minimal blood loss.…”

“…A short CT or r-time has also been reported to be associated with a prothrombotic state 14 . This parameter is, however, lower in female patients 15 , as well as in the presence of systemic inflammation or sepsis 16 . Conversely, the CT or r-time can be lengthened in the presence of endogenous heparinoids in sepsis or acute liver failure 17,18 .…”

“…14 The strength of the blood clot is composed of platelet aggregation, contraction, and fibrin network. 15 Platelets account for about 80%, and fibrin network accounts for about 20%. According to different inducers and detection types, MA can be divided into four types, including Kaolin activity (MA CK ), fibrin activity (MA A ), ADP-stimulated platelet activity (MA ADP ), and AA-stimulated platelet activity (MA AA ).…”
