“…Isolated thrombocytopenia most frequently occurs, but a few drugs have been reported to cause immune thrombocytopenia and hemolytic anemia or agranulocytosis simultaneously. 83,113,153,162,172,192 Thrombocytopenia caused by peripheral platelet consumption often is associated with an increased proportion of larger, more dense platelets His platelet count rose at approximately day 14, and the corticosteroids were rapidly tapered, whereupon there was a drop in the platelet count and a rise in the level of PAIgG. Without further treatment, the platelet count and PAIgG returned to normal.…”

“…"4 Of the more serious adverse effects thrombocytopenia has been reported in two instances; leukopenia, hemolytic anemia, and focal hepatitis each has been reported once. 5 Four fatalities have been reported after sulfamethoxypyridazine administration, one from aplastic anemia 6 and three from "hypersensitivity myocarditis." 7 In one of the latter fatalities the myocardial changes were thought to be only a contributing factor, while in two they were assumed to be the direct cause of death.…”
