Three-Year Follow Up of Customized Glass Fiber Esthetic Posts

Abstract: Customized glass fiber posts that is well adjusted into the root canal and have mechanical properties similar to those of dentin may be a suitable treatment for severely compromised endodontically treated teeth. This article reports a 3-year follow up of severely damaged endodontically treated teeth restored with unidirectional fiber glass customized post and core system instead of a conventional fiber post. The fabrication of this glass fiber customized post is a simple technique, providing an increased volum… Show more

“…[ 31 ] The use of unidirectional glass fibers customized post, modeling the internal anatomy of the root canal can be considered effective, less invasive, and suitable for restore endodontically treated teeth. [ 32 ] In this study Panavia F, (Kuraray America, Inc.) was chosen for postcementation, which has a modulus of elasticity of 18.3, which was almost similar to the dentin [ Table 1 ].…”

“…In endodontic clinical practice, the use of FRCs is mainly reported as root canal anchoring system. Studies evaluated both prefabricated and individualized FRC posts [ 16 , 41 43 ]. Root canal walls restored with individually formed FRC posts displayed higher fracture resistance than those restored with only resin composite [ 44 46 ].…”

“…It is a polyethylene woven fiber ribbon that is coated with a dentin bonding agent and packed in the canal, where it is then light polymerized into position . Another proposed material is a customized glass‐fiber post . Costa et al compared the root fracture strength of single‐rooted premolars restored with GFR posts to the ones restored with customized GFR posts.…”
