Three novel accurate pixel-driven projection methods for 2D CT and 3D EPR imaging

Abstract: Three proposed pixel-driven projection methods achieved more accurate iterative image reconstruction results. These new and more accurate methods can also be easily extended to other imaging modalities. Among them, SPLD method should be recommended to 3D and four dimensional (4D) EPR imaging.

“…ere are three common projection methods: pixel-driven, raydriven [36], and distance-driven [37] projection methods. In this work, we use the novel accurate pixel-driven method proposed by our group [38]. e linear system is large scale, ill-posed and often underdetermined, so it is almost impossible to solve it by calculating the pseudoinverse of A.…”

“…In this work, we use isotropic cubic voxels as image basis and calculate gradient matrix D on-the-fly following (5)- (7). Matrix A corresponds to the forward projections that can be computed on-the-fly by use of the voxel-driven projection model [29]. The selection of TV bound will be discussed in complex physical phantom study below.…”
