“…Zanclospora [ 1 ], typified with Z. novae-zelandiae , was established for dematiaceous hyphomycetes observed on plant litter or decaying wood and bark and characterised by setiform conidiophores, discrete phialides arranged in whorls and hyaline, unicellular, non-setulate conidia in slimy masses enveloping the conidiophores [ 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , 9 , 10 ]. However, the morphological characters of conidiophores, phialides and conidia vary among species and contribute to the phenotypic heterogeneity of the genus.…”

“…However, species in these genera can be distinguished by the arrangement and colour of the conidiogenous cells. In Kramasamuha they are pale brown and solitary or in clusters along the conidiophores ( Subramanian & Vittal 1973 ). In Garnaudia , the conidiogenous cells are brown, and verticillate in terminal branches ( Borowska 1977 ), while in Endophragmiella the conidiogenous cells are hyaline and mainly solitary and terminal ( Hughes 1979 , Seifert et al .…”

“…Although the conidia secede rhexolytically and carry away with them a basal frill, derived from the apex of the conidiogenous cell, the species show particular differences from species of Endophragmie/la listed above. The two excluded species are more suitably discussed elsewhere together with a consideration of Kramasamuha Subramanian et Vittal (1973) and Garnaudia Borowska (1977). (1809) Type species S. atrum Link (1809) (210, as the type of his new species'S.…”
