We discuss a rather common but often unnoticed pitfall which arises when deriving the bounded-from-below (BFB) conditions in multi-Higgs models with softly broken global symmetries. Namely, necessary and sufficient BFB conditions derived for the case with an exact symmetry can be ruined by introducing soft symmetry breaking terms. Using S4 and A4-symmetric three-Higgs-doublet models as an example, we argue that all published necessary and sufficient BFB conditions, even those which are correct for the exactly symmetric case, are no longer sufficient if soft symmetry breaking is added. Using the geometric formalism, we derive the exact necessary and sufficient BFB conditions for the 3HDM with the symmetry group S4, either exact or softly broken, and review the situation for the A4-symmetric case.

We study generalised P and CP transformations in the three-Higgs-doublet model (3HDM) with Higgs and gauge fields only. We find that there are two equivalence classes, with respect to flavour transformations, of generalised P transformations and there is only one class of CP transformations. We discuss the conditions the potential has to satisfy in order to be invariant under these transformations. We apply the method of bilinears which we briefly review. We discuss the relation to the conventional basis, where the potential is written in terms of scalar products of the doublet fields. In particular we reproduce the known result that a potential is invariant under CP transformations if and only if there is a conventional basis where all parameters are real. Eventually we study standard P and CP transformations in the n-Higgs-doublet model (nHDM). We show that for the bilinears of the nHDM the standard CP transformation corresponds to a diagonal linear transformation with only ±1 as diagonal elements. A neutrino mass model conserving discrete flavour symmetry A4 is proposed. Using an interplay of both Type-I and Type-II seesaw mechanisms the discrepancies present in the popular lepton mixing patterns, viz., Tribimaximal (TBM), Bimaximal (BM), and Golden Ratio (GR) mixings are cured and they were harmonized with the present neutrino oscillation observations. A scenario with no solar mixing (NSM) was also considered. The model has several predictions testable in the light of future oscillation experiments. IntroductionThis talk is based on [1]. A model with two-component Lagrangian formalism based on Type-I and Type-II seesaw mechanism is proposed for tree-level generation of realistic neutrino masses and mixing using the discrete flavour symmetry A4 in [1]. The Type-II seesaw is the dominant contribution, Type-I seesaw is the sub-dominant contribution. Type-II seesaw features vanishing solar splitting ( m 2 solar = 0), θ 13 = 0, θ 23 = π/4 and can have any solar mixing angle. Choices of θ 0 12 corresponding to certain mixing patterns, viz., θ 0 12 = 35.3 • (tribimaximal), 45.0 • (bimaximal), 31.7 • (golden ratio) were considered. Tribimaximal, Bimaximal, Golden Ratio mixing are abbreviated as TBM, BM, and GR mixing, respectively. No solar mixing (NSM), i.e., θ 0 12 = 0 was also studied. Including first-order corrections originating from the sub-dominant Type-I seesaw can yield the values of these oscillation parameters into the ranges allowed by the data leading to interesting interrelationships between them that are testable in future oscillation experiments. For example, normal (inverted) ordering gets associated with first (second) octant of θ 23 . The 3σ neutrino oscillation parameters global fits [2, 3]:
