Three-Dimensional Unsteady Flow With Heat and Mass Transfer Over a Continuous Stretching Surface

Abstract: A numerical solution of the unsteady boundary layer equations under similarity assumptions is obtained. The solution represents the three-dimensional unsteady fluid motion caused by the time-dependent stretching of a flat boundary. It has been shown that a self-similar solution exists when either the rate of stretching is decreasing with time or it is constant. Three different numerical techniques are applied and a comparison is made among them as well as with earlier results. Analysis is made for various situ… Show more

“…In contrast on certain physical situations, the surface may be stretched suddenly from the rest and the transient or unsteady aspects become important. However, the number of studies on unsteady flow due to stretching surface is very limited (Surma Devi et al [34], Lakshmisha et al [35], Takhar et al [36], Pop and Nath, [37], Chamkha and Issa [38], Ishak et al [39]). The comprehensive analysis on unsteady mixed convection flow due to a stretching semi-infinite vertical plate in a parallel free stream is also important to be investigated and such studies are yet to appear in the literature.…”

“…Devi et al [3] studied the problem of unsteady three-dimensional flow over a stretching surface. Lakshmisha et al [4] presented the numerical solutions for unsteady three-dimensional flow induced by a stretching surface with heat and mass transfer. Chamkha [5] considered the hydromagnetic steady three-dimensional flow over a stretching surface with heat generation absorption.…”

“…Nowar [14] solved the problem of peristaltic flow of a nanofluid in the regime of Hall current and porous medium. A vast study exploring different aspects of nanofluid may be consulted in the references [15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23].…”
