There are too many applications of optics and lasers in engineering, and we have already mentioned some of them in the course of this book. In this part, we will consider some of these applications in detail. Section 4.2 considers only conventional optical engineering, i.e., the camera, the microscope, the telescope, etc. Fiber-optics and integrated optics are elaborated on in Section 4.3. This is followed by optical signal processing and the different industrial and medical applications oflasers. The final section (4.6) includes three topics, i.e., optical interconnection, optical computing, and Star War.
