Abstract: These data offer preliminary evidence of overlap in the decision-making functioning tapped by these tasks. Possible implications for drug-taking behavior are discussed.

“…Performance stimulating effects were not found by Richards et al (1999) but they did show that alcohol did not detrimentally affect discounting of delayed monetary reward. Although conceptual differences between tasks measuring cognitive impulsivity do exist, it has been shown that performance on delay-discounting tasks is significantly correlated to performance on the Iowa gambling task (Monterosso et al, 2001). Together these results indicate that alcohol does not increase cognitive impulsivity in this type of decisionmaking tasks.…”

“…É esperado que a alteração do número de ensaios modifique o desempenho, porque como os indivíduos só podem aprender com a experiência, as primeiras jogadas são, necessariamente, exploratórias (Dunn, Dalgleish, & Lawrence, 2006;Maia & McClelland, 2004;Monterosso, Ehrman, Napier, O'Brien, & Childress, 2001).…”

“…Efetivamente, alguns estudos remuneram os participantes, independentemente do desempenho (e.g. Bechara, Damasio, Tranel & Anderson, 1998;Bechara et al, 2000;Bolla et al, 2003;Denburg, Recknor, Bechara, & Tranel, 2006;Denburg, Tranel & Bechara, 2005;Mazas, Finn, & Steinmetz, 2000;Monterosso et al, 2001).…”

“…This decision-making impairment, exemplified by the perseverance of bad choices when performing the IGT, has been detected in several studies utilizing psychopathological populations, such as drug-and alcohol-addicted (Bechara et al, 2001;Goudriaan et al, 2005Goudriaan et al, , 2006Lorains et al, 2014;Monterosso et al, 2001;Wiehler & Peters, 2015). Nevertheless, one question left unanswered by previous research is whether poor decision-making is associated with severity of gambling problems in adolescent gamblers (as has been found among adult gamblers).…”
