Three copper complexes containing the sulfur-bridged bis-pyridine ligands, 2,2′-dithiodipyridine and di-2-pyridyl sulfide

Abstract: Three copper complexes constructed with sulfur-bridged bis-pyridine ligands 2,2′-dithiodipyridine (dtdp) and di-2-pyridyl sulfide (dps), [Cu 2 (dps) 2 (H 2 O) 2 (μ-SO 4 ) 2 ]·(H 2 O) 2 (1), [Cu 2 I 2 (dps) 2 ] (2), and [Cu 4 I 4 (dtdp) 2 ] (3), have been synthesized by reaction of copper(I) iodide with dtdp under solvothermal and solution-diffusion conditions, and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The dps ligands were generated via in situ cleavage of S-S and S-C(py) bonds of dtdp. Cu ions are… Show more

“…In addition, the values are comparable to many excellent halogen-containing NLO, such as [Me 3 TPA][AgX 3 ]X (X = Cl/3.26 eV, Br/3.08 eV), (2-AMP) 2 BiX 7 ·H 2 O (X = Cl/3.28 eV, Br/2.84 eV), Cs 3 Pb 2 (CH 3 COO) 2 Br 5 (3.26 eV), and (C 4 H 10 NO)PbX 3 (X = Cl/4.30 eV, Br/3.97 eV) . The FT-IR spectra show the characteristic vibrations. In terms of 1 and 2 (Figure S4a,b), the vibration peak of the crystalline water molecules located at 3416 cm –1 , ν(C–N) and ν(C–C) at 1150–1663 cm –1 , and δ(N–H) and δ(C–H) at 776–989 cm –1 , respectively. The peaks at 3014–3205 cm –1 belonged to ν(N–H) and ν(C–H), ν(C–N) and ν(C–C) at 1122–1589 cm –1 , and ν(C–S) at 1120 cm –1 in 3 (Figure S4c).…”

“…The Cu-N and Cu-S bond distances are in their normal ranges. [38][39][40][41][42][43][44] The BCS molecule was formed by the deliberately designed in situ pyridinethiol condensation reaction (Scheme 1b). 33 It differs from the previously reported reactions that involve harsh reaction conditions, toxicity reactants or noble metal catalysts (Scheme S1 †).…”

“…Complex preparation by interface diffusion applying ligand and metal precursor in different solvents is well-known for biphasic and multiphasic layering. Since the diffusion of the solvents provided the complex formation, miscible liquids have always been used.…”
