“…[11] In order to enhance the non-resonant third order NLO response of fullerenes and to tune their optical properties in specific spectral regions of interest, C 60 and C 70 have been chemically modified with a large variety of electron-donating organic moieties. [12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20] In that respect, the enhancement of the charge delocalization over the fullerene cage in connection with charge transfer have been shown to be an efficient source to enhance the thirdorder optical nonlinear response of fullerene derivatives. Specifically, evidence for the enhancement of the nonlinear optical behaviour as a consequence of the charge transfer interaction has been observed with C 60 -poly(aminonitrile) polymers and a [2+4]-adduct with a Cu-phthalocyanine.…”

“…These oligomeric compounds have, however, too short conjugation length in order to be effective as semiconducting material in FETs, as follows from the results presented here. Branched oligothienylvinylenes [17] reported recently could be more promising in this respect if the right molecular packing can be achieved. Branched-and starbranched poly(3-alkylthiophenes) reported earlier definitely have a longer conjugation length than the star-shaped oligomers considered here, but they were investigated in their conducting (doped) states only.…”

Especially in this modern world, the use of continuous wave (cw) lasers at power levels ranging from mW to kW in various applications has become more common.…”
