The complexes [M(Hdamsm) 2 ]XÁH 2 O (M = Fe, X = NO 3 ; M = Ru, X = Cl), [Ru(Hdamsm)(PPh 3 ) 2 X 0 ] (X 0 = Cl, Br), and [VO(Hdamsm)(acac)] (H 2 damsm = diacetylmonoxime Schiff base of S-methyldithiocarbazate, Hacac = acetylacetone) have been prepared and characterized by spectroscopic techniques. Their redox properties were investigated by cyclic voltammetry. The X-ray crystal structure of [Fe(Hdamsm) 2 ]NO 3 .H 2 O has been determined and shows that the complex has a distorted octahedral geometry in which the Hdamsm behaves as a monoanionic NNS tridentate ligand coordinating via oxime nitrogen, hydrazinic imine nitrogen, and thiolate sulfur. The reactivity of these complexes toward oxidation of alcohols in the presence of t-BuOOH and H 2 O 2 as co-oxidants is reported.

a b s t r a c tA series of binuclear palladium(II) salicylaldiminato dithiosemicarbazone complexes have been synthesized and characterized. The palladium complexes were obtained by the reaction of various ethyleneand phenylene-bridged dithiosemicarbazones with Pd(PPh 3 ) 2 Cl 2 . The free salicylaldimine ligands and their palladium complexes were characterized by NMR and IR spectroscopies, ESI-mass spectrometry, elemental analyses and for two representative complexes also by X-ray diffraction. In both metal complexes, the solid-state structures show the two palladium centers to be coordinated in a slightly distorted square-planar geometry, which gives rise in each case to five-and six-membered chelate rings. The salicylaldimine thiosemicarbazone ligands coordinate to palladium in a tridentate manner, through the phenolic oxygen, imine nitrogen and thiolate sulfur atoms.

Two complexes of a thiosemicarbazone ligand, namely N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-(thiophene-2-ylmethylene)-hydrazinecarbothioamide (HL), have been synthesized. The complexes have been characterized by physico-chemical and spectroscopic methods. The crystal and molecular structures of [CoL 3 ]Á2MeOH (1) and [NiL 2 ] (2) have been determined by X-ray diffraction studies. For both complexes, the metal is coordinated through the sulfur and azomethine nitrogen atoms of the thiosemicarbazone. The ligand exists in its thiolate tautomeric form, and the central Co(III) and Ni(II) atoms have distorted octahedral and square planar geometries, respectively, with five-membered chelate rings formed by the ligand. The lattice of 1 shows infinite oxygen donor/acceptor hydrogen bonds in the ab plane and weak interactions between rings along the c axis, respectively, giving a supramolecular network. The molecular units in 2 are linked together by hydrogen bonds between the hydroxyl oxygen and hydrazone N proton, giving rise to an infinite ribbon extended along the c-axis.These chains are connected by N3-H3ÁÁÁO1 interactions that form a sheet within the ac plane.
