Thickness of hydrogel for nitrifying biomass entrapment determines the free ammonia susceptibility differently in batch and continuous modes

Abstract: Hydrogels immobilizing nitrifying bacteria with different thicknesses of 0.55 and 1.13 cm (HG-0.55 and HG-1.13, respectively) were produced. It was recognized that the thickness of media is a crucial parameter that affects both the stability and efficiency of wastewater treatment.
